Case Study
A Recent Case Study
A large, multinational organisation reached out to Wright Executive to discuss the potential need to source a ‘Chief Financial Officer’ from within the local market.
Some time prior to the call to Wright Executive, the client company had hired a candidate from a direct competitor, someone they knew of from within the industry, and who came highly recommended. The company was very happy to have secured this individual, however things weren’t what they seemed and unfortunately this CFO did not last long and moved on.
The Engagement
Wright Executive was approached and given a basic brief over the phone, before a more formal meeting was arranged between ourselves and the hiring company, at their place of business. During this meeting we were able to fully understand the needs of the client, the specifics of the role, and more importantly the cultural and motivational fit for the required candidate. We discussed the reasons why the previous incumbent did not succeed, and made absolutely certain we properly understood every aspect of the role and hiring requirements.
After the client briefing, Wright Executive returned to our Sydney office. We continued to research the client and produced a formal ‘proposal’ document outlining our approach to executing this search, and effectively attracting the most appropriate talent for our client. We recommended a ‘retained’ search, which enabled our team to fully commit to the process over the coming days and weeks, until such a point we felt we had a strong ‘shortlist’ of candidates. To reach this point we exercised tried and tested ‘executive search’ methodologies, reaching out to our extensive network of people, engaging with relevant and appropriate talent and all the while painting an impressive picture of the opportunity. A long list of candidates was created, which over time and after significant interview meetings was reduced to a shortlist of 4 exceptional candidates.
At this point the client commenced a robust and methodical interview process with each candidate, which included 3 stages with a number of the leadership team on a regional scale. A preferred candidate was highlighted and ultimately offered the position.
The Outcome
This process happened nearly 2 years ago. The CFO who was hired through this process is very much still with the client company in this role, and has been an outstanding success. The feedback from the client has been nothing short of superb, they absolutely feel the process was worth every effort, Wright Executive removed the pressure and burden of the previous hiring issues, understood the brief from start to finish, and delivered an exceptional hire to the client company.
